Power Steering Pump Belt: Removal

NOTE: Under no circumstances should the accessory drive belt, tensioner or pulleys be lubricated as potential damage to the belt material and tensioner damping mechanism will occur. Do not apply any fluids or belt dressing to the accessory drive belt or pulleys.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
  2. Working from the top of the vehicle, rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the accessory drive belt from the generator pulley.
  3. Remove the 4 screws and position the RH fender splash shield aside.

  4. Remove the 6 pin-type retainers and the RH splash shield.
  5. Position the accessory drive belt off the crankshaft pulley.
  6. Position the Stretchy Belt Remover on the power steering pump pulley belt as shown in the illustration.

  7. NOTE: Feed the Stretchy Belt Remover onto the power steering pump pulley approximately 90 degrees.

  8. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and feed the Stretchy Belt Remover evenly on the power steering pump pulley as shown in the illustration.
  9. Remove the power steering pump belt.
