Crankshaft Rear Seal: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
  2. Remove the flywheel. For additional information, refer to FLYWHEEL  in this service information.
  3. Drain the engine oil.
    • Install the drain plug.
    • Tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).
  4. NOTE: If the oil pan is not removed, damage to the rear oil seal retainer joint can occur.
  5. Remove the 17 bolts and the oil pan.
  6. Remove the 6 bolts and the crankshaft rear oil seal with retainer plate.
