Removal and Installation

NOTE: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
  1. Remove the camshaft roller followers. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT ROLLER FOLLOWER  in this service information.
  2. NOTE: Mark the positions of the hydraulic lash adjusters to make sure they are assembled in their original positions.
  3. Remove the hydraulic lash adjusters.
  4. NOTE: Inspect the hydraulic lash adjusters for scoring marks and uneven wear in the bore. Install new lash adjusters if necessary.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Lubricate the hydraulic lash adjusters with clean engine oil.
