Lumbar Motor: Removal

  1. Remove the seat. For additional information, refer to Seat - Front .
  2. WARNING: Front seat backrest trim covers installed on seats equipped with seat side air bags cannot be repaired. A new trim cover must be installed. Cleaning is permissible. Failure to follow these instructions may result in the seat side air bag module deploying incorrectly and increase the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
  3. Release the seat backrest trim cover J-clips.
    • Release the lower J-clip first and then release the 2 side J-clips.

  5. Access and disconnect the electrical connector.
  6. Remove and discard the 2 rivets.
  7. Remove the lumbar motor.
  8. Release the lumbar assembly from the bottom of the seat backrest frame.
  9. Remove the lumbar assembly.
    • Partially separate the foam pad from the top of the backrest frame for access.
    • Release the lumbar assembly from the top of the backrest frame and remove.
