Pinpoint Test Ad: The Trailer Lamps Are On Continuously

  1. AD1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT THE TRAILER TOW CONNECTOR 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Trailer Tow C4098 (4-pin).
    • Disconnect: Trailer Tow C4099 (7-pin).
    • Disconnect the trailer from the vehicle.
    • Place the headlamp switch on the OFF position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer tow C4098 (4-pin connector) or trailer tow C4099(7-pin connector) and ground as follows:
      TRAILER TOW CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION

      C4098-3 C4099-1 52 (YE)
      C4098-4 C4099-4 64 (DG)
      C4098-2 C4099-6 962 (BN/WH)

    • Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : If the trailer parking or reversing lamps are on continuously GO to AD2.

      If the trailer LH or RH turn lamps are on continuously, GO to  AD3.

    • No  : Vehicle is operating correctly. SEND the trailer to an authorized camper/trailer repair center.
  2. AD2 CHECK THE CENTRAL JUNCTION BOX (CJB) 
    • Disconnect: CJB C270j.
    • Measure the voltage between CJB (component side) and ground as follows:

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 962 (BN/WH) or 963 (BK/LG) as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. AD3 CHECK THE RELAY 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Trailer LH or RH Turn Relay.
    • Carry out the component test for the LH or RH turn trailer tow relay. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING .
    • Is the relay OK? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 52 (YE) (LH turn) or 64 (DG) (RH turn) as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : INSTALL a new LH or RH turn trailer tow relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
