Pinpoint Test Aa: The Individual Trailer Lamp Is Inoperative - LH Trailer Turn Signal/STOPLAMP/Hazard Flasher Lamp

  1. AA1 CHECK TURN SIGNAL OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Trailer Tow C4098 (4-pin).
    • Disconnect: Trailer Tow C4099 (7-pin).
    • Disconnect the trailer from the vehicle.
    • Check the operation of the vehicle exterior lighting systems for any concerns.
    • Does the exterior lighting system of the vehicle operate correctly? 
    • Yes  : GO to AA2.
    • No  : REPAIR any vehicle exterior lighting concerns. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. AA2 CHECK CIRCUIT 64 (DG) FOR POWER 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Place the multifunction switch in the LH turn position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer tow C4098-3, circuit 52 (YE) (4-pin connector), or the trailer tow C4099-1, circuit 52 (YE) (7-pin connector), harness side and ground.

    • Does the voltage alternate between less than 1 volt and greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : The vehicle is operating correctly. SEND the trailer to an authorized camper/trailer repair center.
    • No  : GO to AA3.
  3. AA3 CHECK THE TRAILER LH TURN RELAY 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Trailer LH Turn Relay.
    • Carry out the trailer LH turn relay component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING .
    • Is the trailer LH turn relay OK? 
    • Yes  : If equipped with 6.0L diesel, GO to  AA7.

      All others, GO to AA4.

    • No  : INSTALL a new trailer LH turn relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. AA4 CHECK THE INPUT FROM THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer LH turn relay pin 1, circuit 9 (LG/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Does the voltage alternate between less than 1 volt and greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to AA5.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 9 (LG/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. AA5 CHECK VOLTAGE TO THE TRAILER LH TURN/STOP RELAY 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer LH turn relay pin 3, circuit 1362 (DG/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to AA6.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 1362 (DG/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. AA6 CHECK THE TRAILER LH TURN RELAY GROUND 
    • Measure the resistance between trailer RH turn relay pin 2, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less then 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 52 (YE). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 57 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. AA7 CHECK CIRCUIT 9 (LG/OG) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer LH turn relay pin 86, circuit 9 (LG/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Does the voltage alternate between less than 1 volt and greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to AA8.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  8. AA8 CHECK CIRCUIT 1362 (DG/OG) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Measure the voltage between trailer LH turn relay pin 30, circuit 1362 (DG/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to AA9.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  9. AA9 CHECK THE TRAILER LH TURN RELAY GROUND (6.0L DIESEL) 
    • Measure the resistance between trailer LH turn relay pin 85, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 52 (YE). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 57 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
