Pinpoint Test Ad: The Key-In-Ignition Warning Chime Is Inoperative

NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. AD1 CHECK FOR RECORDED LCM DTCs 
    • Check for recorded LCM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.
    • Is DTC B1352 present? 
    1. YES  : Go to  AD3.
    2. NO  : Go to  AD2.
  2. AD2 CHECK FOR CORRECT INTERIOR LAMPS OPERATION 
    • Open the driver door and observe the interior lamp operation.
    • Do the interior lamps operate correctly? 
    1. YES  : Go to  AD5.
    2. NO  : REFER to INTERIOR LIGHTING article to continue diagnosis of the interior lamps.
  3. AD3 CHECK CIRCUIT 158 (BK/PK) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: LCM C2145a
    • Insert the key into the ignition lock cylinder.

    • Measure the voltage between the LCM C2145a-10, circuit 158 (BK/PK), harness side and ground.
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. YES  : Go to  AD5.
    2. NO  : Go to  AD4.
  4. AD4 CHECK FOR CORRECT IGNITION SWITCH OPERATION 
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250
    • Carry out the ignition switch component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING article.
    • Does the ignition switch pass the component test? 
    1. YES  : VERIFY the central junction box (CJB) fuse 31 (5A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit 158 (BK/PK). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. AD5 CHECK FOR CORRECT LCM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all LCM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all LCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new LCM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
