Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems: Autolock

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Mercury Mariner and 2010 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: The autolock feature is not available on vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.

The autolock feature locks all the doors when all the doors (including the liftgate) are closed, the key is in the RUN position, the transmission is in either a forward or reverse gear, and the vehicle speed is greater than 20 km/h (12 mph).

The autolock feature repeats when any door is opened then closed while the ignition is still in the RUN position, the vehicle speed is 15 km/h (9 mph) or slower, and the vehicle then attains a speed greater than 20 km/h (12 mph).

This feature can be activated/deactivated. Refer to AUTOLOCK AND AUTO-UNLOCK PROGRAMMING  for programming information.
