Removal and Installation

- Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT .
- Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the generator B+ terminal nut.
- To install, tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).
- Position the generator B+ terminal cable aside.
- Disconnect the generator harness retainer.
- Remove the starter solenoid terminal cover.
- Remove the starter motor positive cable nut.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
- Remove the starter solenoid wire nut.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Position the starter motor terminals aside.
- Remove the battery ground cable bolt.
- To install, tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).
- Position the battery ground cable aside.
- Disconnect the pin-type retainer from the left rear of the engine.
- Disconnect the pin-type retainer from the middle of the intake runners.
- Disconnect the pin-type retainer from the front of the engine.
- Disconnect the clip retainer from the right front of the engine.
- Disconnect the clip retainer from the left front of the engine.
- Remove the body ground terminal bolt from the left fenderwell.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
- Open the Battery Junction Box (BJB) cover and remove the BJB
terminal nut.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Position the BJB terminal aside.
- Disconnect the BJB electrical connector.
- Disconnect the retainers fastening the battery cables to the battery tray.
- Remove the battery cables.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
