Removal & Installation: Q45: Removal

CAUTION: Ensure crankshaft position sensor is removed before separating transaxle from engine.
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove crankshaft position sensor from transaxle. Remove fill pipe, oil cooler pipe clamps and oil cooler pipe from transmission assembly. Disconnect rear oxygen sensor harness connectors. Remove exhaust pipes.
  2. Unplug A/T harness and speed sensor connectors. Remove control linkage from selector lever. Plug all openings. Remove drive shaft.
    CAUTION: Insert plug into rear oil seal after removing drive shaft. Ensure no damage occurs to spline, sleeve yoke or rear seal when removing drive shaft.
  3. Remove starter, gusset securing engine to transmission assembly. Mark drive plate in relation to torque converter for installation reference. Remove torque converter-to-drive plate bolts. Support engine/transmission assembly with jack and remove rear mounting bracket from body. Remove bellhousing bolts, and lower transmission assembly from vehicle.
