Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the front driver side door scuff plate and kick panel. For additional information, refer to DOOR TRIM PANEL -- FRONT .
  2. Release the parking brake cable tension. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE CABLE TENSION RELEASE .
  3. Remove the parking brake release handle bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  4. Disconnect the parking brake warning indicator switch electrical connector and detach the harness pin-type retainer from the parking brake control cover.
  5. Remove the 2 parking brake control bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
  6. Remove the 2 parking brake control nuts.
    • To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
  7. Remove the parking brake control.
    • Disconnect the front parking brake cable.
  8. NOTE: Make sure that the cable is in the groove on the control wheel prior to final tightening of fasteners.
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
