Removal and Installation

- Remove the front driver side door scuff plate and kick panel. For additional information, refer to DOOR TRIM PANEL -- FRONT .
- Release the parking brake cable tension. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE CABLE TENSION RELEASE .
- Remove the parking brake release handle bolt.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Disconnect the parking brake warning indicator switch electrical connector and detach the harness pin-type retainer from the parking brake control cover.
- Remove the 2 parking brake control bolts.
- To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
- Remove the 2 parking brake control nuts.
- To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
- Remove the parking brake control.
- Disconnect the front parking brake cable.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE:
Make sure that the cable is in the groove on the control wheel prior to final tightening of fasteners.
