Pinpoint Test C: Excessive Steering Wheel Play

  1. C1 CHECK THE STEERING LINKAGE 
    • Carry out the Steering Linkage  Component Test.
    • Is the steering linkage OK? 
    • Yes:  GO to C2  .
    • No:  INSTALL new steering linkage components as necessary. Refer to the REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION for the procedure.
  2. C2 CHECK THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT 
    • Inspect the steering column shaft U-joints and fasteners for looseness.
    • Are the U-joints and fasteners OK?
