Removal And Installation

  1. Release the parking brake cable tension. For additional information, refer to Parking Brake Cable Tension Release .
  2. Remove the steering column opening cover.
  3. Remove the 2 bolts and position the data link connector (DLC) aside.

  5. Remove the 4 bolts and the instrument panel LH knee bolster assembly.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  6. Remove the LH front door scuff plate.

  8. Remove the hood release handle bezel from the LH A-pillar lower trim panel, then remove the LH A-pillar lower trim panel.

  10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the parking brake switch.
  11. Remove the 3 parking brake control nuts and position the parking brake control to access the front parking brake cable.
    • To install, tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
  12. Disconnect the front cable from the parking brake control.
  13. Disconnect the front parking brake cable conduit from the parking brake control.
    1. Using a box-end wrench, compress the fingers of the parking brake cable conduit.
    2. Remove the front parking brake cable and conduit from the parking brake control.

  15. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
