Drive Pinion Flange and Drive Pinion Seal: Removal

- Raise the vehicle on a hoist or raise the rear end of the vehicle with a jack. Install safety stands under the frame rails and lower the jack or hoist enough to allow the rear axle to drop into the rebound position for working clearance. - Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT article.
- Use the Drive Pinion Flange Holding Fixture to prevent the flange from turning while removing the lock nut and washer.
- Discard the lock nut and washer.
- Using the 2-Jaw Puller, remove the pinion flange.
- Using the Bushing Remover and Slide Hammer, remove and discard the pinion seal.
- Clean the pinion seal seat.
NOTE:
Index-mark the pinion flange to the pinion shaft prior to removal.
