Main Control Valve Body: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Loosen, but do not remove the transmission fluid pan bolts and allow the transmission fluid to drain. Once the transmission fluid has drained, remove the bolts.
- Remove the transmission fluid pan and gasket.
- Pull down evenly and remove the transmission fluid filter and seal.
- Clean and inspect the transmission fluid pan, gasket and magnet.
- Disconnect the molded lead frame from the solenoids.
- Disconnect the shift solenoid SSA and SSB.
- Disconnect the torque converter clutch (TCC).
- Disconnect the electronic pressure control (EPC) solenoid.
- Disconnect the bulkhead interconnection.
- Remove the manual control valve detent lever bolt and spring.
- Remove the 23 valve body-to-case bolts and the EPC bracket bolt.
- Remove the main control valve body and discard the pump outlet screen.
CAUTION:
Do not pull on the molded lead frame. This may cause damage to the connector ends. Carefully pry up on the locking tabs to disconnect the solenoids. Disconnect the molded lead frame from the solenoids.
