CAUTION: To prevent damage to the washer pump during this pinpoint test step, do not leave jumper wire connected more than a few seconds.
    • Momentarily connect a fused jumper wire between windshield wiper motor C125-7, circuit 941 (BK/WH), harness side and the vehicle battery positive post.
    • Did the washer pump activate?
    1. YES  : Go to  E4.
    2. NO  : Go to  E2.
  2. E2 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR GROUND
    • Disconnect: Washer Pump Motor C137
    • Measure the resistance between washer pump motor C137-2, circuit 57 (BK) harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  E3.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. E3 CHECK CIRCUIT 941 (BK/WH) FOR AN OPEN
Fig 2: Checking Circuit 941 (BK/WH) For An Open
      GF0011481Courtesy of FORD MOTOR CO.
    • Measure the resistance between windshield wiper motor C125-7, circuit 941 (BK/WH), harness side and washer pump motor C137-1, circuit 941 (BK/WH), harness side.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new washer pump. REFER toWasher Pump and Reservoir .
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. E4 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202C
    • Carry out the Multifunction Switch Component Test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING.
    • Did the multifunction switch pass the component test?
    1. YES  : Go to  E5.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
  5. E5 CHECK CIRCUIT 680 (LB/OG) FOR AN OPEN
Fig 3: Checking Circuit 680 (LB/OG) For An Open
      GF0011482Courtesy of FORD MOTOR CO.
    • Measure the resistance between windshield wiper motor C125-12, circuit 589 (OG), harness side and multifunction switch C202C-2, circuit 680 (LB/OG), harness side.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  E6.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. E6 CHECK FOR CORRECT WIPER MOTOR OPERATION
    • Disconnect all wiper motor connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
    • Connect all wiper motor connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new windshield wiper motor. REFER to Wiper Motor .
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
