Pinpoint Test F: The Delayed Accessory Is Inoperative

Test Step 

  1. F1 CHECK VOLTAGE TO THE ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY 
    • Disconnect: Rear Window Defrost Relay.
    • Measure the voltage between accessory delay relay pin 30, harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 

    Result / Action to Take 

    • Yes  : GO to F2.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. F2 CHECK VOLTAGE TO THE ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY FROM THE BATTERY SAVER RELAY 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Activate the Battery Saver Relay.
    • Measure the voltage between accessory delay relay pin 85, harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to F3.
    • No  : GO to  F4.
  3. F3 CHECK INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MODULE (ICM) 
    • Measure the resistance between accessory delay relay pin 86, harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new accessory delay relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : GO to  F5.
  4. F4 CHECK CIRCUIT 54 (LG/YE) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Instrument Cluster Module (ICM) C220c.
    • Measure the resistance between accessory delay relay pin 85, harness side and ICM C220c pin 1, circuit 54 (LG/YE) harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING to diagnose the battery saver relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. F5 CHECK CIRCUIT 1332 (LB) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Instrument Cluster Module (ICM) C220b.
    • Measure the resistance between accessory delay relay pin 86, harness side and ICM C220b pin 8, circuit 1332 (LB) harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING to diagnose the battery saver relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
