WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Ford Pickup, 2005 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2005 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2005 Ford Cab & Chassis. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Test Step
- A1 CHECK VOLTAGE TO THE REAR WINDOW ADJUST SWITCH
- Disconnect: Rear Window Adjust Switch C203.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between rear window adjust switch C203-2, circuit 400 (LB/BK) harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Result / Action to Take
- Yes : GO to A2.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A2 CHECK GROUND TO THE REAR WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between rear window adjust switch C203-3 and C203-6, circuit 57 (BK) harness side and ground.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to A3.
- No : REPAIR the circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
- A3 CHECK THE REAR WINDOW ADJUST SWITCH
- Key in ON position.
- Connect a fused jumper between rear window adjust switch C203-2, circuit 400 (LB/BK) and C203-7, circuit 405 (VT/LB) harness side; and between rear window adjust switch C203-1, circuit 404 (VT/LG) and C203-3, circuit 57 (BK) harness side. The rear window should open.
- Connect a fused jumper between rear window adjust switch C203-2, circuit 400 (LB/BK) and C203-1, circuit 404 (VT/LG) harness side; and between rear window adjust switch C203-7, circuit 405 (VT/LB) and C203-6, circuit 57 (BK) harness side. The rear window should close.
- Did the rear power sliding window OPEN and CLOSE?
- Yes : INSTALL a new rear window adjust switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to A4.
- A4 CHECK CIRCUIT 404 (VT/LG) AND CIRCUIT 405 (VT/LB) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Rear Window Motor C312.
- Measure the voltage between rear window motor C312-1, circuit 404 (VT/LG) and C312-2, circuit 405 (VT/LB) harness side and ground.
- Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to A5.
- A5 CHECK CIRCUIT 404 (VT/LG) AND CIRCUIT 405 (VT/LB) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between rear window motor C312-1, circuit 404 (VT/LG) and C312-2, circuit 405 (VT/LB) harness side and ground.
- Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to A6.
- No : REPAIR the circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
- A6 CHECK CIRCUIT 404 (VT/LG) AND CIRCUIT 405 (VT/LB) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between rear window motor C312-1, circuit 404 (VT/LG) and rear window adjust switch C203-1, circuit 404 (VT/LG) harness side; and between rear window motor C312-2, circuit 405 (VT/LB) and rear window adjust switch C203-7, 405 (VT/LB) harness side.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : INSTALL a new rear window motor. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
