Removal And Installation

All engines 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
  3. NOTE: Make sure that the block heater wiring is routed and secured away from rotating or hot components, or damage to the wiring can occur.
  4. Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
  5. 4-cylinder engine 

  6. Remove the block heater.
    • To install, tighten to 21 Nm (15 lb-ft).
  7. V6 engine 

  8. Remove the block heater.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  9. All engines 

  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  11. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
