Low Transmission Fluid Level

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Mercury Mariner and 2008 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Do not drive the vehicle if the transmission fluid level is below the hole at the bottom of the transmission fluid level indicator, or not on the transmission fluid level indicator and the outside temperatures are above 10°C (50°F). A low transmission fluid level could result in poor transaxle engagement, slipping, malfunction and/or damage. This could also indicate a leak in one of the transaxle seals or gaskets.
