Front Disc Brake

The brake caliper:
- bolts to the brake caliper anchor plate, which bolts to the front wheel spindle.
- is a dual piston, pin slider design.
- has a fluid inlet at the center of the caliper housing.
The brake disc and bearing hub are the same part on 2-wheel drive vehicles. To remove or install the front brake disc on 2-wheel drive vehicles, refer to FRONT SUSPENSION - 4X2 .
The brake disc:
- is a ventilated full-cast design, with non-directional cooling fins.
- is mounted to the wheel spindle.
- is serviced with the brake caliper and brake caliper anchor plate removed as an assembly.
- is part of the bearing hub on 2-wheel drive vehicles.
The brake disc shield:
- is bolted to the front wheel spindle.
- protects the wheel bearings and inboard surface of the brake disc.
The brake pads:
- are housed in the brake caliper anchor plate.
- are of a non-asbestos, semi-metallic composition.
