Test D: Charge Warning Indicator Inoperative

- Disconnect generator 3-pin connector. With ignition on, engine off, connect a 15-amp fused jumper wire between generator 3-pin connector terminal "I" (Light Green/Red wire) and ground. If charge warning indicator does not illuminate, diagnose instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - MUSTANG in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Check system operation.
- On 3.8L engines, if indicator illuminates, replace voltage regulator and check system operation. See VOLTAGE REGULATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. On 4.6L engines, if indicator illuminates, replace generator. See GENERATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
