Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure oil holes in camshaft bearings and cylinder block are aligned. Front camshaft bearing must be installed .020-.035" (.51-.89 mm) below front face of cylinder block.
  2. Apply sealant to rear camshaft bore plug before installing. Install camshaft bore plug flush with cylinder block surface.
  3. Lubricate camshaft lobes, journals and both sides of thrust plate with engine oil before installing.
  4. Ensure camshaft end play is within specification. See CAMSHAFT  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
