Disassembly (Plunge CV Joint)
- Remove axle shaft from vehicle. See AXLE SHAFTS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. On left axle shaft inner CV joint, cut and remove both boot clamps.
- Slide boot back away from CV joint. On right axle shaft inner CV joint with low profile large boot clamp, use Clamp Pliers (D-78P-1090-A) to remove and install boot clamp.
- Slide stub shaft and housing off tripod CV joint. Note type of housing and boot. See Fig 1. Using snap ring pliers, remove stop ring from backside of tripod assembly. Move tripod assembly back, and remove circlip. Slide tripod assembly and stop ring off axle shaft. Remove boot (if replacing).
