Ball Joint: Installation

- Position the ball joint into the wheel spindle/knuckle.
- Using the special tools, install the upper ball joint.
- Using the special tools, install the lower ball joint.
- Install the snap ring in the groove at the bottom of the lower ball joint.
- If removed, install the ball joint grease fitting.
- Install the front wheel spindle or wheel knuckle. For additional information, refer to Wheel Spindle - F-250, F-350 or Wheel Knuckle - F-450, F-550 in this article.
CAUTION:
The grease fitting must be removed from the ball joint prior to installation or damage to the grease fitting can occur.
CAUTION:
To avoid damage to components, do not use heat to aid installation.
NOTE:
Clean the wheel spindle/knuckle ball joint bore.
NOTE:
The upper ball joint must be installed first.
CAUTION:
Do not overtighten the ball joint grease fitting or damage to the ball joint may occur.
