Rear Brake Caliper: Reassembly
- Apply a light coat of Silicone Dielectric Compound (D7AZ-19A331-A) to parking brake lever shaft, bore and seal. Press parking brake lever seal into bore, and install lever. Install parking brake lever bolt, and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS tables. Install return spring.
- Position strut pin in bore and in recess of parking brake lever shaft. Install NEW "O" ring on push rod, and insert push rod into push rod bore of caliper. Ensure strut pin is positioned correctly between shaft recess at end of push rod.
- Place key plate over push rod so locating tab fits into drilled locating hole in caliper. Install flat washer, push rod, spring and spring cover. Install outer snap ring installer spacer into piston bore.
- Insert inner compressor spacer into piston bore. Place snap ring inside of inner spacer. Position spring compressor, screw and cross block on push rod. Lightly screw compressor clockwise to compress spring for installation of snap ring. DO NOT over compress spring. Install snap ring.
- Lubricate seal, dust boot, piston and bore with clean brake fluid. Install NEW piston seal in bore groove. Install dust boot in piston bore. Spread dust boot over piston and seat in piston groove. Using Brake Piston Remover/Installer (T87P-2588-A), rotate piston clockwise until piston is fully seated. Ensure one slot in piston engages nib on disc pad. See Figure.
- To complete assembly, reverse disassembly procedure. Bleed and adjust brakes as necessary. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
NOTE:
Caliper Spring Compressor (T87P-2588-B) consists of 4 parts, including 2 spacers used to install parking brake mechanism in caliper.
