Test N: High Beam Indicator Is Never/Always On

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Operate headlights in high beam position. If high beams operate, go to next step. If high beams do not operate, repair high beams as necessary. See EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C251. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 2 (Light Green/Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C251 while turning high beams on and off. See Figure . Battery voltage should exists when high beams are on and zero volts should exist when high beams are off. If voltage is as specified, replace bulb or instrument cluster as necessary. If voltage is not as specified, repair open or short to voltage/ground in Light Green/Black wire.
