Test E: Incorrect Oil Pressure Gauge Indication

  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select instrument cluster active command OILGAUGE. Trigger, monitor and scroll OILGAUGE at 0%, 50% and 100%. Oil pressure gauge should indicate "L" at 0%, middle at 50% and "H" at 100%. If oil pressure gauge responds as specified, go to next step. If oil pressure gauge does not respond as specified, replace instrument cluster.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect oil pressure sensor harness connector C138. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C251. Measure resistance in White/Red wire between oil pressure sensor harness connector C138 and terminal No. 16 at instrument cluster harness connector C251. See Figure . Resistance should be 5 ohms or less. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 16 (White/Red wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C251. Resistance should be greater than 10 k/ohms. If both resistance reading are as specified, replace oil pressure sensor. If either resistance reading is not as specified, repair open and/or short to ground in White/Red wire.
