Rear Brake Shoes (2000): Removal
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel assembly, On models equipped with anti-lock brakes, disconnect wheel speed sensor. Remove brake drum.
- Remove brake shoe hold-down springs and pins. See Fig 1. Disconnect shoes from wheel cylinder. Detach shoes from anchor block. Using a rubber band, wrap around wheel cylinder and hold wheel cylinder pistons in place.
- Push parking brake cable lever inward. Disconnect cable. Remove lower return spring. Remove upper return spring. Pull primary shoe outward, and disconnect strut. Release strut and remove primary shoe from strut and brake shoe adjuster.
- Move strut downward and detach parking brake return spring. Remove secondary shoe from strut support.
