Test L: DTC C1289 - Secondary Brake Pressure Sensor Input Circuit Failure

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCS connector (C830). Disconnect secondary brake pressure sensor connector (C822). Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 12 (Yellow/Violet wire) and ground. Measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 28 (White/Violet wire) and ground. Measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 45 (Brown/White wire) and ground. If voltage is present at any point, repair faulty circuit. If voltage is not present at any point, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 12 (Yellow/Violet wire) and ground. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 28 (White/Violet wire) and ground. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 45 (Brown/White wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 k/ohms, repair faulty circuit.
  3. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 45 (Brown/White wire) and secondary brake pressure sensor connector terminal No. 1 (Brown/White wire). Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 28 (White/Violet wire) and secondary brake pressure sensor connector terminal No. 2 (White/Violet wire). Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 12 (Yellow/Violet wire) and secondary brake pressure sensor connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Violet wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair faulty circuit.
  4. Reconnect TCS connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between secondary brake sensor connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Violet wire) and terminal No. 1 (Brown/White wire). If voltage is approximately 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not approximately 5 volts, replace TCS module.
  5. Reconnect secondary brake pressure sensor. Disconnect TCS connector. Back out TCS connector terminal No. 28 (White/Violet wire). Reconnect TCS connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between TCS connector backed out terminal No. 28 (White/Violet wire) and ground, while depressing and releasing brake pedal. If voltage is 0.125-0.375 volt with brake pedal released; and 0.125-5.0 volts with brake pedal depressed, replace TCS module. If voltage is not 0.125-0.375 volt with brake pedal released; and not 0.125-5.0 volts with brake pedal depressed, replace secondary brake pressure sensor. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module.
