Test J: DTC C1287 - Booster Pedal Force Switch Circuit Failure
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Perform brake booster calibration procedure. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC C1287 is retrieved, or recalibration procedure indicates failed, go to next step. If any other DTC is retrieved, see TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no DTCs are retrieved, TCS is operating correctly.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect brake booster connector (C829). Using DVOM, measure resistance between brake booster connector terminal No. 1 (component side) and brake booster connector terminal No. 5 (component side) while depressing and releasing brake pedal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms with brake pedal depressed; and greater than 10 k/ohms with brake pedal released, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms with brake pedal depressed; and not greater than 10 k/ohms with brake pedal released, replace brake booster. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module.
- Measure resistance between brake booster connector terminal No. 2 (component side) and brake booster connector terminal No. 5 (component side) while depressing and releasing brake pedal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms with brake pedal released; and greater than 10 k/ohms with brake pedal depressed, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms with brake pedal released; and not greater than 10 k/ohms with brake pedal depressed, replace brake booster. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module.
- Disconnect TCS connector (C830). Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 6 (Blue/Red wire) and ground. Measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 7 (Blue/Red wire) and ground. Measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 40 (Black wire) and ground. If voltage is present at any point, repair faulty circuit. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module. If voltage is not present at any point, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 6 (Blue/Red wire) and brake booster connector terminal No. 1 (Blue/Red wire). Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 7 (Blue/Red wire) and brake booster connector terminal No. 2 (Blue/Red wire). Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 40 (Black wire) and brake booster connector terminal No. 5 (Black wire). If resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace TCS module. If resistances are greater than 5 ohms, repair faulty circuit. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module.
