Test G: DTC C1281 - Accelerometer Circuit Failure & DTC C1282 - Accelerometer Signal Fault
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Perform accelerometer recalibration procedure. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC C1281 or C1282 is retrieved, or accelerometer portion of recalibration procedure indicates failed, go to next step. If any other DTC is retrieved, see TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no DTCs are retrieved, TCS is operating correctly.
- Using scan tool, monitor TCS module PID LAT_ACC. If value is 547-681, replace accelerometer. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module. If value is not 547-681, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCS connector (C830). Back out TCS connector terminal No. 29 (White/Blue wire). Reconnect TCS connector. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 29 (White/Blue wire) and ground. If voltage is approximately 3 volts, reconnect backed out terminal, and go to next step. If voltage is not approximately 3 volts, go to step 5.
- Using scan tool, monitor TCS module PID LAT_ACC. If value is 547-681, inspect TCS module connector for loose or corroded terminals. If value is not 547-681, replace TCS module.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCS connector (C830). Disconnect Accelerometer connector (C827). Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 13 (Brown/Blue wire) and ground. Measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 29 (White/Blue wire) and ground. Measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 46 (Yellow/Blue wire) and ground. If voltage is present at any point, repair faulty circuit. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module. If voltage is not present at any point, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 13 (Brown/Blue wire) and ground. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 29 (White/Blue wire) and ground. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 46 (Yellow/Blue wire). If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair faulty circuit. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module.
- Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 13 (Brown/Blue wire) and accelerometer connector terminal No. 2 (Brown/Blue wire). Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 29 (White/Blue wire) and accelerometer connector terminal No. 1 (White/Blue wire). Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 46 (Yellow/Blue wire) and accelerometer connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair faulty circuit. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module.
- Reconnect TCS connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between accelerometer connector terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Blue wire) and terminal No. 2 (Brown/Blue wire). If voltage is approximately 5 volts, replace accelerometer. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module. If voltage is not approximately 5 volts, replace TCS module.
