Test F: DTC C1279 - Yaw Rate Sensor Circuit Failure & DTC C1280 - Yaw Rate Sensor Signal Fault (Abs With TCS)

NOTE: Information regarding connector/circuit numbers, terminal numbers and wire colors are per manufacturer's specifications.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Using scan tool, perform YAW RATE SENSOR RECALIBRATION PROCEDURE. If DTC C1279 or C1280 is retrieved, or yaw velocity portion of recalibration procedure indicates failed, go to next step. If any other DTCs are retrieved, see TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no DTCs are retrieved, TCS is operating correctly.
  2. Using scan tool, monitor TCS module PID YAWRATE. If value is 479-545, replace yaw rate sensor. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module. If value is not 479-545, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCS connector (C830). Back out TCS connector terminal No. 27 (White/Red wire). Reconnect TCS connector. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between disconnected terminal No. 27 (White/Red wire) and ground. If voltage is approximately 2.5 volts, reconnect backed out terminal, and go to next step. If voltage is not approximately 2.5 volts, go to step  5.
  4. Using scan tool, monitor TCS module PID YAWRATE. If value is 479-545, inspect TCS module connector for loose or corroded terminals. If value is not 479-545, replace TCS module.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCS connector (C830). Disconnect yaw rate sensor (C826). Turn ignition on. Using DVOM, measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 11 (Brown/Red wire) and ground. Measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 27 (White/Red wire) and ground. Measure voltage between TCS connector terminal No. 44 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. If voltage is present at any point, repair faulty circuit. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module. If voltage is not present at any point, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 11 (Brown/Red wire) and ground. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 27 (White/Red wire) and ground. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 44 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair faulty circuit. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module.
  7. Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 27 (White/Red wire) and yaw rate sensor terminal No. 1 (White/Red wire). Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 11 (White/Red wire) and yaw rate sensor terminal No. 2, circuit No. 8-CF67 (White/Red wire). Measure resistance between TCS connector terminal No. 44 (Yellow/Red wire) and yaw rate sensor terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair faulty circuit. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Recalibrate TCS module.
  8. Reconnect TCS connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between yaw rate sensor terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and terminal No. 2, circuit No. 9-CF67 (Brown/Red wire). If voltage is approximately 5 volts, replace yaw rate sensor. If voltage is not approximately 5 volts, replace TCS module.
