Possible Causes
Driver-side air bag circuit low resistance could be caused by short in clockspring windings, short in wiring harness, low resistance in driver-side air bag module, or damaged or inoperative RCM.
- Check driver-side air bag module
Turn ignition off. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Perform on-demand self-test. See ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST under DIAGNOSTICS. If DTC B1934 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B1934 is not retrieved, replace driver-side air bag module. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Clear DTCs. Repeat on-demand self-test. - Check driver-side air bag module circuit
Turn ignition off. Access RCM and disconnect harness connector C424. See RESTRAINTS CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect driver-side air bag module simulator. Measure resistance between RCM harness connector C424, terminals No. 2 (Green/Red wire) and No. 3 (Black/Orange wire). See Figure. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace RCM. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Clear DTCs. Repeat on-demand self-test. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. - Check driver-side air bag module wiring
Disconnect lower clockspring connector. Measure resistance between RCM harness connector C424, terminals No. 2 (Green/Red wire) and No. 3 (Black/Orange wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Clear DTCs. Repeat on-demand self-test. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short between Green/Red and Black/Orange wires. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Clear DTCs. Repeat on-demand self-test.
