Test V: Panel/Floor Switch Does Not Operate; Console Blower Does Operate
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Lincoln Navigator and 1999 Ford Expedition. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Check Fuse No. 23 (10-Amp)
Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 23. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, go to step 11) . - Check System Operation
Replace fuse No. 23. Turn ignition to run (engine off). Cycle rear blower switch from HI to OFF. If console blend door actuator operates, system is okay at this time. If blend door does not operate, go to next step. - Recheck Fuse No 23 (10-Amp)
Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 23. If fuse is okay, go to step 8) . If fuse is blown, go to next step. - Check White/Light Blue Wire Circuit For Short
Disconnect Rear Integrated Control Panel (RICP) connector. Disconnect flasher relay connector (located under instrument panel, at right side of steering column). On 2WD models, disconnect 4x2 center axle disconnect solenoid connector located in left side of engine compartment (if equipped). On 4WD models, disconnect 4x4 center axle disconnect solenoid connector located in left side of engine compartment (if equipped).
On all models, disconnect trailer tow battery charge relay located in battery junction box in engine compartment (if equipped). Measure resistance of White/Light Blue wire between RICP connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair White/Light Blue wire. Retest system.
- Check Trailer Tow Battery Charge Relay For Short
Turn ignition to run (engine off). Reconnect trailer tow battery charge relay (if equipped). Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 23 (10-amp). If fuse No. 23 is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace trailer tow battery charge relay. Retest system. - Check Center Axle Disconnect Solenoid For Short
Turn ignition to run (engine off). Reconnect 4x2 or 4x4 center axle disconnect solenoid connectors (if equipped). Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 23. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, problem is in transfer case circuit wiring. - Check Flasher Relay For Short
Turn ignition to run (engine off). Reconnect flasher relay connector. Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 23. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace flasher relay. - Check Yellow/Light Green Wire Circuit For Short
Disconnect console door actuator connector. Measure resistance of Yellow/Light Green wire between RICP connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair Yellow/Light Green wire. Retest system. - Check Red/White Wire Circuit For Short
Measure resistance of Red/White wire between RICP connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, reconnect RICP and go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair Red/White wire. Retest system. - Check RICP For Short
Place RICP fan switch in HI position. Measure resistance of Red/White wire between console door actuator connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, replace console door actuator. Retest system. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, replace RICP. Retest system. - Check Voltage To RICP
Disconnect RICP connector. Turn ignition to run (engine off). Measure voltage of White/Light Blue wire between RICP connector and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair White/Light Blue wire. Retest system. - Check Red/White Wire Circuit For Open
Turn ignition off. Disconnect console blend door actuator. Measure resistance of Red/White wire between console blend actuator connector and RICP connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Red/White wire. Retest system. - Check Yellow/Light Green Wire For Open
Measure resistance of Yellow/Light Green wire between console blend actuator connector and RICP connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Yellow/Light Green wire. Retest system. - Check RICP
Place rear blower switch in HI position. Measure resistance between Black wire and Yellow/Light Green wire terminals of RICP connector. Measure resistance between White/Light Blue wire and Red/White wire terminals of RICP connector. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace console blend door actuator. Retest system. If resistances are more than 5 ohms, replace RICP. Retest system.
