Test U: Panel/Floor & Cool/Warm Controls Do Not Operate On Front/Rear Auxiliary Controls
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Lincoln Navigator and 1999 Ford Expedition. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Check Fuse No. 23 (10-Amp)
Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 23 (10-amp). If fuse is okay, go to step 10) . If fuse is blown, go to next step. - Check System Operation
Replace fuse No. 23. Operate front and rear controls through all positions. If auxiliary A/C mode and blend door actuators operate using both front and rear controls, system is okay. If auxiliary A/C mode and blend door actuators do not operate using both front and rear controls, go to next step. - Recheck Fuse No. 23 (10-Amp)
Turn ignition off. Inspect fuse No. 23. If fuse is okay, go to step 10) . If fuse is blown, go to next step. - Check White/Light Blue Wire Circuit For Short
Disconnect auxiliary climate control module connector, auxiliary blend actuator connector and auxiliary mode actuator connector. Disconnect flasher relay connector located under instrument panel at right side of steering column. On 2WD models, disconnect 4x2 center axle disconnect solenoid connector located in left side of engine compartment (if equipped). On 4WD models, disconnect 4x4 center axle disconnect solenoid connector located in left side of engine compartment (if equipped).
On all models, disconnect trailer tow battery charge relay located in battery junction box in engine compartment (if equipped). Measure resistance of White/Light Blue wire between auxiliary climate control module connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair White/Light Blue wire. Retest system.
- Check Trailer Tow Battery Charge Relay For Short
Turn ignition to run (engine off). Reconnect trailer tow battery charge relay (if equipped). Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 23 (10-amp). If fuse No. 23 is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace trailer tow battery charge relay. Retest system. - Check Center Axle Disconnect Solenoids
Turn ignition to run (engine off). Reconnect 4x2 or 4x4 center axle disconnect solenoid connectors (if equipped). Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 23. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, problem is in transfer case circuit wiring. - Check Flasher Relay For Short
Turn ignition to run (engine off). Reconnect flasher relay connector. Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 23. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace flasher relay. - Check Auxiliary Blend Door Actuator For Short
Turn ignition to run position (engine off). Reconnect auxiliary blend actuator connector. Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 23. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace auxiliary blend actuator. Retest system. - Check Auxiliary Mode Actuator For Short
Turn ignition to run position (engine off). Reconnect auxiliary mode actuator connector. Check fuse No. 23. If fuse is okay, replace auxiliary climate control module. Retest system. If fuse is blown, replace auxiliary mode actuator. Retest system. - Check Auxiliary Climate Control Module For Voltage
Disconnect auxiliary climate control module connector. Turn ignition to run (engine off). Measure voltage of White/Light Blue wire between climate control connector and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to step13) . If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair White/Light Blue wire. Retest system. - Check Black Wire For Open
Turn ignition off. Measure resistance of Black wire between climate control connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Black wire. Retest system. - Check Front Auxiliary Control Enable Signal
Place front auxiliary blower switch in OFF position. Measure resistance of Dark Green/Yellow wire between climate control connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, go to step 14) . If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. - Check Dark Green/Yellow Wire Circuit For Short
Measure resistance of Dark Green/Yellow wire between climate control connector and ground. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, replace front auxiliary blower motor switch. Retest system. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, repair Dark Green/Yellow wire. Retest system. - Check Rear Auxiliary Control Enable Signal
Place front auxiliary blower switch in REAR position. Measure resistance of Dark Green/Yellow wire between climate control connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace auxiliary climate control module. Retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step. - Check Dark Green/Yellow Wire Circuit For Open
Disconnect front auxiliary blower motor switch connector. Measure resistance of Dark Green/Yellow wire between auxiliary climate control module connector and front auxiliary blower motor switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace front auxiliary blower motor switch. Retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Dark Green/Yellow wire. Retest system.
