Test F: Blower Motor Operates Continuously In High Speed
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Lincoln Navigator and 1999 Ford Expedition. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Check Blower Motor Operation
Turn ignition to run position (engine off). Press MAX A/C button. Adjust blower speed control to LO position. If blower speed reduces, system is functioning properly. Retest system. If blower speed does not reduce, go to next step. - Check Tan/Orange Wire Circuit For Short
Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower motor speed controller connector. Turn ignition to run position (engine off). Press OFF button on EATC control panel. Measure voltage of Tan/Orange wire between blower motor speed controller connector and ground. If voltage is more than zero volts, repair short to power in Tan/Orange wire. Retest system. If voltage is zero volts, go to next step. - Check Blower Motor Speed Controller
Turn ignition off. Connect blower motor speed controller connector. Turn ignition to run position (engine off). Press MAX A/C button. Adjust blower speed to LO position. Without disconnecting blower motor speed controller connector, connect jumper wire between Tan/Orange wire terminal from blower speed controller connector to ground. If blower motor operation stops or slows noticeably, go to next step. If blower motor operation did not stop, replace blower motor speed controller. Retest system. - Check Tan/Orange Wire Circuit For Open
With jumper still connected, turn ignition off. Disconnect EATC module connector (C281). Turn ignition to run position (engine off). If blower motor operation stops or slows noticeably, replace EATC module. Retest system. If blower motor operation does not change, repair open in Tan/Orange wire. Retest system.
