- Check Blower Speed Controller Supply Voltage
Disconnect blower speed controller connector, located under right side of instrument panel. Turn ignition to run position (engine off). Press AUTOMATIC button on EATC panel. With a voltmeter, measure voltage of Brown/Yellow wire between blower speed controller connector and ground. If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to step 15) . If voltage is less than 9 volts, go to next step. - Check Blower Motor Relay Voltage
Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower motor relay connector. Measure voltage of Black/Light Green wire between blower motor relay connector and ground. If voltage is greater than 9 volts, go to step 8) . If voltage is less than 9 volts, go to next step. - Check Fuse No. 23 (30-Amp)
Remove and check fuse No. 23 (30-amp) located in engine compartment power distribution box. If fuse is okay, repair open in Black/Light Green wire. Retest system. If fuse is blown, go to next step. - Check Black/Light Green Wire Circuit For Short
With an ohmmeter, measure resistance of Black/Light Green wire between blower motor relay connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short in Black/Light Green wire. Retest system. - Check Brown/Yellow Wire Circuit For Short
Measure resistance of Brown/Yellow wire between blower motor relay connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short in Brown/Yellow wire. Retest system. - Check Blower Motor Current Draw
Disconnect blower motor connector. Connect ammeter between right blower motor connector and known-good battery. If blower motor current draw is 9.2 amps or less, go to next step. If blower motor current draw is greater than 9.2 amps, replace blower motor. Retest system. - By-Pass Blower Motor Relay
Reconnect blower motor connector. Reconnect blower speed controller connector. Reinstall fuse No. 23 (30-amp). Connect jumper wire between blower motor relay terminals No. 30 (Brown/Yellow wire) and 87 (Black/Light Green wire). If fuse No. 23 blows, replace blower speed controller. Retest system. If fuse No. 23 does not blow, replace blower motor relay. Retest system. - Check Relay Supply Voltage
Turn ignition to run position (engine off). Measure voltage of White/Purple wire between blower motor relay connector and ground. If voltage is more than 9 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 9 volts, go to step 12) . - Check Orange Wire Circuit For Open
Turn ignition off. Disconnect EATC 20-pin module connector (C280). Measure resistance of Orange wire between blower motor relay connector and EATC module connector C280. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange wire. Retest system. - Check Brown/Yellow Wire Circuit For Open
Measure resistance of Brown/Yellow wire between blower speed controller connector and blower motor relay connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/Yellow wire. Retest system. - By-Pass EATC Module
Connect blower motor relay connector. Turn ignition to run position (engine off). Connect jumper wire between EATC module connector C280 terminal No. 17 (Orange wire) and ground. Measure voltage of Brown/Yellow wire between blower motor speed controller connector and ground. If voltage is more than 9 volts, replace EATC module. Retest system. If voltage is less than 9 volts, replace blower motor relay. Retest system. - Check Fuse No. 24 (30-Amp)
Remove and check fuse No. 24 (30-amp) located in junction box fuse/relay panel. If fuse is okay, repair open in White/Purple wire. Retest system. If fuse is blown, go to next step. - Check White/Purple Wire Circuit For Short
Disconnect EATC 20-pin module connector (C280). Measure resistance of White/Purple wire between EATC module connector and ground. If resistance is more than 10,000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short in White/Purple wire. Retest system. - Check Blower Motor Relay For Short
Reinstall fuse No. 24 (30-amp). Reconnect EATC module connector C280. Turn ignition to run position (engine off). If fuse No. 24 blows, replace EATC module. Retest system. If fuse does not blow, replace blower motor relay. Retest system. - By-Pass Blower Speed Controller
Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower motor connector. Turn ignition to run position (engine off). Connect 12-gauge jumper wire between blower speed controller connector to blower motor terminals (Brown/Yellow wire terminal and Black wire terminal). If blower motor runs at high speed, go to step 19) . If blower does not run at high speed, go to next step. - Check Brown/White Wire Circuit For Open
Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower speed controller connector. Measure resistance of Brown/White wire between blower speed controller supply circuit connector and blower motor connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/White wire. Retest system. - Check Red/White Wire Circuit For Open
Measure resistance of Red/White wire between blower speed controller connector and blower motor connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/White wire. Retest system. - Check Blower Speed Controller Ground Circuit For Open
