Test P: Abs Warning Indicator Inoperative Or Always On
CAUTION:
Use correct probe adapter(s) when testing at anti-lock brake module connector. Failure to do so may damage connector.
NOTE:
After repair, clear DTCs and repeat self-test.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) warning indicator is always on, repair as necessary. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK BRAKES article in BRAKES article. If ABS warning indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect anti-lock brake control module. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If ABS indicator illuminates, go to step 4. If ABS warning indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument panel 20-pin connector. Measure resistance between instrument panel 20-pin connector terminal No. 16 and ground. See Figure. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to step 5. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair open in Dark Green wire.
- Disconnect all ABS module connectors. Inspect connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Reconnect all ABS module connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace ABS module. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and repeat self-test.
- Disconnect all instrument cluster connectors. Inspect connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and repeat self-test.
