Test H: Solenoid Mechanical Failure: Testing

NOTE: Repair all other DTCs before repairing the following DTCs: P1714, P1715 and P1740.

  1. Electronic Diagnostics

    Ensure transmission harness connector is fully seated, terminals are fully engaged in connector and in good condition. Repair as necessary. Connect NGS tester to DLC. Perform KOEO test until continuous memory code(s) have been displayed. See QUICK TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If DTCs P1714, P1715 and/or P1740 are the only DTCs set, replace solenoid body assembly and go to next step. If any other DTCs are set, repair them first. Clear DTCs and perform TRANSMISSION DRIVE CYCLE TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Repeat QUICK TEST  and ensure no DTCs are set.

  2. Transmission Drive Cycle Test

    Perform TRANSMISSION DRIVE CYCLE TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Repeat QUICK TEST . If vehicle upshifts and downshifts normally, go to next step. If vehicle does not shift normally, diagnose problem by symptom. See SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.

  3. Retrieve DTCs

    Repeat KEY-ON-ENGINE-OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST  until continuous memory code(s) are displayed. If DTCs P1714, P1715 and/or P1740 is reset, replace PCM. Repeat QUICK TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If DTCs P1714, P1715 and P1740 are not reset and shifting problems still exist, electronic control system is okay.
