Test M: Service Engine Soon Warning Indicator Light Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to lock position. Disconnect PCM harness connector C1027. See Figure. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between terminal No. 2 (Pink/Light Green wire) and terminal No. 24 (Black/White wire) at PCM harness connector C1027. If service engine soon indicator illuminates, retrieve DTCs from PCM. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If service engine soon light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator bulb and measure resistance between terminals. If bulb is okay, go to next step. If bulb is not okay, replace bulb and retest.
  3. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C250c. See Figure. Measure resistance of Pink/Light Green wire between terminal No. 2 at PCM harness connector C1027 and terminal No. 5 at instrument cluster harness connector C250c. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace instrument cluster. If resistance is more then 5 ohms, repair open in Pink/Light Green wire and retest.
