Removal & Installation (Rear - Dana 80)
- Loosen wheel lug nuts and axle shaft retaining bolts. Raise and support vehicle high enough so axle assembly will clear when removing from vehicle. Remove rear wheels. Disconnect brake hose from frame, and parking brake cable at equalizer.
- Remove parking brake cable from cable support and brackets. Disconnect drive shaft rear "U" joint. Disconnect anti-lock wiring from axle sensor (if equipped). Disconnect rear sway bar links. Disconnect shock absorbers from rear axle housing.
- Disconnect axle vent hose at crossmember. Strap axle assembly securely to transmission jack. Remove spring "U" bolt nuts, and remove "U" bolts. Carefully lower axle housing assembly from vehicle. Drain lubricant. Mount axle assembly onto workbench. To install, reverse removal procedure.
