Test E: Left Rear Or Right Rear Window Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect suspect rear window switch harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between suspect window switch harness connector terminal No. 4 (Yellow/Light Green wire) and ground. See Figure . If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short to ground in Yellow/Light Green wire and retest system operation.
  2. Disconnect driver-side window switch. For left rear window, measure resistance in Yellow/Light Blue wire between driver-side window switch harness connector C510b terminal No. 6 and left rear window switch harness connector terminal No. 7. Measure resistance in Gray/Orange wire between driver-side window switch harness connector C510b terminal No. 7 and left rear window switch harness connector terminal No. 2. For right rear window, measure resistance in Yellow/Black wire between driver-side window switch harness connector C510b terminal No. 5 and right rear window switch harness connector terminal No. 2. Measure resistance in Gray/Orange wire between driver-side window switch harness connector C510b terminal No. 4 and right rear window switch harness connector terminal No. 7. See Figure . If resistances are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistances are not as specified, repair open in faulty wire and retest system operation.
  3. Test left rear or right rear window switches. See SINGLE SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to next step. If switch is not okay, replace faulty window switch and retest system operation.
  4. Test driver-side window switch. See DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If driver-side window switch is okay and left rear window is suspect, go to next step. If driver-side window switch is okay and right rear window is suspect, go to step  6 . If driver-side window is not okay, replace driver-side window switch and retest system operation.
  5. Disconnect left rear window motor 2-pin connector. Measure resistance of Yellow/Black wire between left rear window switch harness connector terminal and window motor 2-pin connector. Measure resistance of Yellow/Light Blue wire between same connectors. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace left rear window motor. See WINDOW MOTORS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistances are 5 ohms or more, repair Yellow/Black and/or Yellow/Light Blue wire.
  6. Disconnect right rear window motor 2-pin connector. Measure resistance of Brown wire between right rear window switch harness connector and window motor 2-pin connector. Measure resistance of Brown/Yellow wire between same connectors. If resistances are less than 5 ohms, replace right rear window motor. See WINDOW MOTORS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistances are 5 ohms or more, repair Brown and/or Brown/Yellow wire.
