Test B: All Windows Inoperative
- Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, perform Generic Electronic Module (GEM) self-test. If DTC B1302 and/or B1304 were retrieved, go to step 3
. If DTC B1359 was retrieved, repair RUN/ACC circuit failure. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES -- EXCURSION & F250-F550 SUPER DUTY PICKUPS
article. If no DTCs were retrieved, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect driver-side window switch harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. On Crew Cab and Excursion, measure voltage between driver-side window switch harness connector C510a terminal No. 2 (Light Blue/Black wire) and ground. See Fig 1
. On Regular and Super Cab, measure voltage between driver-side window switch harness connector C510a terminal No. 4 (Light Blue/Black wire) and ground. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to step 9
.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove accessory delay relay from fuse junction panel. See Fig 2
. On Crew Cab and Excursion models, measure resistance in Light Blue/Black wire between driver-side window switch harness connector C510a terminal No. 2 and accessory delay relay connector terminal No. 87. See Fig 1
and Fig 3
. On Regular and Super Cab models, measure resistance in Light Blue/Black wire between driver-side window switch harness connector C510a terminal No. 4 and accessory delay connector terminal No. 87. See Fig 1
and Fig 3
. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Light Blue/Black wire.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between accessory delay relay connector terminal No. 30 (Red/Light Blue wire) and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short in Red/Light Blue wire.
- Measure voltage between accessory delay relay connector terminal No. 86 (Light Green/Yellow wire) and ground. Measure resistance between accessory delay relay connector terminal No. 85 and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts and resistance less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts and/or resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in relay ground circuit and/or short or open in Light Green/Yellow wire.
- Measure voltage between accessory delay relay connector terminal No. 85 and ground. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to step 10
.
- Ensure ignition switch is in the RUN position. Measure resistance between accessory delay relay connector terminal No. 85 and ground. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace accessory delay relay and retest system operation.
- Using NGS tester, access active command ACCY RLY. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Command relay ON. Measure resistance between accessory delay relay connector terminal No. 85 and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 10
. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair fuse junction panel as necessary and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. On Crew Cab and Excursion, measure resistance between driver-side window switch harness connector C510b terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and ground. See Fig 4
. On Regular and Super Cab models, measure resistance between driver-side window switch harness connector C511 terminal No. 3 (Black wire) and ground. See Fig 5
. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace driver-side window switch and retest system operation. If resistance is greater than 10 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure voltage between accessory delay relay connector terminal No. 85 and ground. See Fig 3
. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace driver-side window switch and retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. On Crew Cab and Excursion models, measure resistance between driver-side window switch harness connector C510b terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and ground. See Fig 4
. On Regular and Super Cab models, measure resistance between driver-side window switch harness connector C511 terminal No. 3 (Black wire) and ground. See Fig 5
. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace driver-side window switch and retest system operation. If resistance is greater than 10 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
