Test A: No Communication With Generic Electronic Module
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Generic Electronic Module (GEM) 26-pin connector C240a. Check connector for misaligned pins and bad terminal connections. If connector is okay, go to next step. If connector is not okay, repair as necessary, and perform data link diagnostic test. - Ensure ignition switch is off and GEM 26-pin connector C240a is disconnected. Measure resistance of Light Blue/White wire between GEM 26-pin harness connector C240a terminal No. 25 and Data Link Connector (DLC) 16-pin connector terminal No. 7. Data Link Connector (DLC) is located below center of instrument panel. See Fig 2
. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Light Blue/White wire between GEM and DLC. Perform data link diagnostic test. - Turn ignition off. Disconnect all GEM connectors. Inspect connectors for corrosion or pushed-out pins. Reconnect all GEM connectors, ensuring they are seated correctly. Operate system and verify concern still exists. If concern is still present, replace GEM. Reconfigure GEM, clear DTCs, and repeat data link diagnostic test. If concern is no longer present, system is operating correctly. Clear DTCs, and repeat data link diagnostic test.
