Removal & Installation (F350 Motorhome Chassis)

  1. Place front wheels in straight-ahead position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Unsnap steering wheel horn pad from steering wheel. Disconnect horn/speed control wire harness connector and remove steering wheel horn pad. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD . Remove steering wheel retaining nut and discard. Make a reference mark on steering wheel and steering column shaft. Using 2-jaw puller, remove steering wheel.
  2. Remove 4 nylon push pins and remove steering column position control cover. See Figure. Remove steering column position control cover bracket. Unscrew and remove steering column release lever from steering column. Remove ignition switch lock cylinder. See IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER .
  3. Remove upper and lower shroud. Disconnect brake shift interlock electrical connector. Disconnect overdrive electrical connector. Remove screws and electrical connectors from multi-function switch and remove multi-function switch.
  4. Remove bolt and disconnect ignition switch electrical connector. Disconnect cable, and position transmission range indicator aside. Remove transmission shift cable from steering column bracket and steering column shift tube lever, and position aside.
  5. Remove intermediate shaft pinch bolt. Remove 4 steering column retaining bolts and remove steering column.
  6. To install steering column, reverse removal procedure. Ensure bolts are aligned with grooves in steering column. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
