Test D: 4X4 High Indicator Always On, 4WD System Okay

  1. Check 4X4 HIGH Indicator

    Place vehicle in 2WD. Check 4X4 HIGH indicator light. Disconnect ABS module connector C104A (24-pin). If 4X4 HIGH indicator light turns off, problem is in ABS system. Repair as necessary. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If indicator light remains illuminated, go to next step.
  2. Check GEM

    Disconnect GEM C240C connector (22-pin). If indicator light turns off, go to step  4. If indicator light remains illuminated, go to next step.
  3. Check Instrument Cluster

    Disconnect instrument cluster connector C250C (12-pin). If indicator light turns off, repair Light Blue wire between indicator light and instrument cluster connector. If indicator light remains illuminated, problem is in instrument cluster. Repair as necessary. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  4. Check For Correct Module Operation

    Check all connectors for corrosion, pushed out pins and proper seating. Repair as necessary. Connect any disconnected connectors. Operate vehicle and verify if problem is still present. If problem is still present, replace GEM. Clear DTCs and retest system. If problem is not present, system is operating normally. Clear DTCs and retest system.
