Removal (Front)
- Raise and support vehicle. Mark drive shaft position for installation reference. Disconnect drive shaft, and wire aside. Using INCH lbs. torque wrench, measure necessary torque to maintain rotation of pinion through several revolutions (pinion preload). Using Pinion Flange Holder (205-012), remove and discard pinion nut.
- Using Puller (205-D026), remove pinion flange. Carefully remove pinion oil seal so as not to damage housing seal surface.
CAUTION:
Hammering on companion flange could result in damage to ring and pinion gear.
