Axle Shaft: Installation
- Install NEW axle shaft main seal in steering knuckle. Install NEW "O" ring on hub and bearing assembly. Apply high temperature wheel bearing grease to "O" ring area of hub and bearing assembly. Install the wheel hub and bearing. See MANUAL LOCKING HUBS .
- To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten anchor plate bolts to 166 ft. lbs. (225 N.m).
On Dana differentials, apply Long Life Grease XG-1-C (or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-M1C75-B) to "O" ring. On Ford differentials, apply Stud and Bearing Mount EOAZ-19554-BA (or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G349-A1) to threads of retaining bolts. Install axle shaft. On all models, install retaining bolts and tighten. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
