Test M: DTC C1095/C1096 - Pump Motor Circuit Failure: Testing

NOTE: ABS control module can be replaced separately if it is determined to be cause of a problem. If Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) is faulty, it must be replaced along with ABS control module Electric Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).
  1. Turn ignition off. Connect NGS tester or scan tool. Clear all DTCs. Verify ABS pump motor connector is properly connected to HCU. Using scan tester, perform ABCM On-Demand Self-Test. Retrieve DTCs. If DTC C1095 is set, replace HCU. Clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation. If DTC C1096 is set, go to next step. If different DTC is retrieved, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  table. If no DTCs are retrieved, clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation.
  2. Turn ignition off. Measure voltage between ground and Orange/Yellow wire terminal of 2-pin connector (except late production Excursion), or 25-pin connector terminals No. 9 and 25 (late production Excursion). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Orange/Yellow wire circuit. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. Clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation.
  3. Check resistance between ground and Light Green/Yellow wire of 2-pin connector (except late production Excursion), or 25-pin connector terminals No. 8 and 24 (late production Excursion). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace HCU. Clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Light Green/Yellow wire circuit. Clear DTCs and road test vehicle on rough roads and through car wash. Recheck system operation.
